  2. The Distinctive Toyota Prius: Absolutely The Hybrid Car For The Future

    March 2, 2012 by serrac

Toyota has become an icon of craftsmanship when it comes to building cars. Toyota continues to reign in the automobile community as they released their hybrid vehicles. Toyota’s first hybrid, the Prius, is now in its third revision even though other auto companies have yet to create their first. Due to its price and amazing fuel economy, the Prius had become the most popular vehicle of our time. The Prius furthermore had a great deal of appeal as a result of excellent tailpipe emissions. All hybrid cars have some type of electric motor and gas-powered internal combustion engine. The electric motor allowed for less toxic emissions and better fuel economy.

Toyota built their reputation on reliability and continues to do so with the Prius. The hybrids, even those that appeared almost a decade ago, continue to be a good value as a used car. There were once concerns for the hybrid car’s longevity but so far, it’s been proven durable. The fundamental draw back is, due to its complicated engine, the cost of future repairs will most likely be high. Design-wise, the Prius has not necessarily changed considerably as it will always be a four-door hatchback.

The Prius’ powertrain comprises a 1.8 liter petrol powerplant that generates 98 horsepower and 105 pound-feet of torque. There’s a shifting transmission which is certainly working together with two electric motors. At 100 % acceleration, the power is created from each electric and gas powered motors. Fuel-efficiency is optimized in stop and go traffic by working on electrical power without recourse to the traditional gasoline engine. The power supply will be able to charge from ordinary braking.

The new Prius has better pick-up on highway conditions but does not have much pep from a stop at a traffic light. The Prius improved its already impressive fuel economy to about 50 miles per gallon. The Prius’ other modifications occurred in the interior, which incorporates a more standard center control stack. You now have a system display that is next to the digital speedometer and is a bit high on the dash. The basic stereo and climate controls are no longer touchscreen but regular physical buttons. Tall people should certainly have it a touch easier using a more adjustable seat and a telescoping steering wheel. Though the Prius appears to be quite small, the interior still has a lot of elbow room and lots of cargo space.

Toyota continues to make the Prius an outstanding automobile with amazing fuel economy and versatility. There’s really no reason why a Prius would not be an alternative as they drive like traditional cars. Although you do have other options, the Prius remains the recognized standard for great hybrid cars. Watch giovanna wheels.
